Improving communication for people with hearing loss, their family and friends

The next stage of the journey

Be aware of what can work...

Communicating in challenging listening environments is not easy, but encouragement and appreciation can help. You may want to work together and share these tactics with your wider circle of family and friends.

...and what doesn't

It is not always easy to develop new habits and it can be easy to feel impatient. Instead try to see the funny side of any misunderstanding and share responsibility with each other as you learn and adapt.

By developing and practising different strategies communication can be improved more quickly, as well as helping people to make the most of their hearing aids.

Don't forget, one in six people in the UK have a hearing loss, so there will be many people who will benefit when you put these techniques into practice!
