Improving communication for people with hearing loss, their family and friends

Communication tactics: Repetition and closed questioning

In a conversation, repetition is sometimes needed. Speaking clearly, without frustration, can be helpful. Communication is a shared responsibility and it is important to work together.

Closed questions can be used to clarify details that may have been missed. For example, it is easier to tell the difference between 'yes' or 'no' than discriminate between 1 and 2 o'clock.
